FAQs

If you have any questions about any aspect of our service please refer to the FAQs below. If you can't find what you're looking for, please don't hesitate to ask us directly.

1. What sizes and shape of garden home office do you build?

We build our garden offices to any size or shape that you want. Our business is founded on providing a service that is driven by you. Just make sure it is big enough for your current and future needs. As we carry out a survey we can lend our experience to advise you.

2. Do you submit drawings of the offices and garden for approval?

Yes. With our proposal we will include drawings showing how the office will look and how it will be located in your garden.

3. What type of base construction do your provide and is it included?

Yes it is included. We always aim to put down a steel reinforced concrete base. This obviously is very solid, helps prevent moisture penetration, will not move and is very durable. We also use a concrete pad system or suspended framework.

4. Can I choose external wall finish materials?

Yes. We commonly use sawn featheredge, cedar and shiplap but any desired materials can be sourced.

5. Can I choose a roofing material?

Yes. Pitched rooves commonly use cedar shingles or "Eco" slates and also asphalt shingles or clay tiles. Flat rooves can use built-up felt covering or single ply system.

6. Is power provision included?

Yes. We connect a suitable supply from your existing consumer unit in the house, to a new sub main and consumer unit in the garden office. Provide as many double sockets as you need at whatever height you want with all cabling hidden. A spur for the heater will be included.

7. Is lighting type adequate for an office?

As many our garden home offices have a conventional ceiling we are able to provide excellent light levels using recessed and stylish spot lights in the ceiling. External lighting is also provided, sensor controlled or two way switched.

8. Are other services included?

Yes. Telephone, broadband, alarm, intercom, video link, remote light switching, air conditioning and Sky are all possible to connect. In addition, should water be required or drainage this can be included in your package. All services will usually be trenched to your house and connected to existing supplies.

9. Are your offices fully insulated?

All of our buildings have a high level of thermal insulation using rigid foam of appropriate thickness to walls, floor and ceiling. Acoustic insulation packages can be fitted out as required.

10. Do you complete the internal decorations?

Yes. We normally fully decorate your garden office building in the design and colour of your choice. We also lay the floor finish if required.

11. Is planning permission required?

As long as certain guidelines are adhered to, planning permission is not usually necessary. We can advise on this. Should an application be necessary we can submit on your behalf.

12. What is your typical lead time?

As our garden office buildings are a high quality product built to your specification it cannot be put together in a few days. We would normally anticipate starting on site about 4 to 6 weeks after receipt of your order and we are on site for approximately 2 weeks.

13. What do I need to consider before commissioning a garden office?

Things like the location, size, fixtures and finishes are all dependent on your intended use and your individual style. We will advise you on your available options but value your considered input to make sure it's just right.
